Finance Transformation (Plan, Close, Report)
Plan, Close and Report on One Ledger, with Technology Cost Explained
Finance Transformation runs planning, recording, close, consolidation and tax on the iShield One ledger, so each phase works from the same chart of accounts and allocations — and the technology cost that flows into the close arrives with its lineage from iShield Nexus IT Financial Management.
FP&A, continuous close, consolidations, e-invoicing and tax on one ledger, with traceable financial records.

The enterprise challenge
The close is only as fast as its slowest reconciliation.
Finance teams plan in one tool, record in another, consolidate in a third and file tax returns from a fourth. Each hand-off introduces a mapping, a spreadsheet and a reconciliation, and the close waits for all of them.
Running the cycle on one ledger removes most of those hand-offs. What remains are the inputs finance does not own, such as technology cost. These need to arrive already allocated and explainable, so controllers can review them instead of rebuilding them.
Where iShield Nexus contributes
iShield Nexus contributes one module: IT Financial Management, which supplies allocated technology cost with its lineage. iShield One leads every finance process; iShield Link adds anomaly agents and iShieldGRC is listed for audit of IT general controls.
The Nexus angle
Technology cost must flow into finance close accurately.
- Technology services and controls are managed apart from the business process
- Evidence and ownership are fragmented

Buyer challenges
Plans detached from actuals
Budgets are built on last year's numbers in a planning tool that cannot see operational drivers or the ledger.
Reconciliations at month end
Intercompany, subledger and bank reconciliations pile up in the last days because nothing reconciles as transactions post.
Technology cost as a single line
IT spend arrives in the close as one allocation that business units dispute, because the basis behind it is not visible.
Tax and e-invoicing as a side project
Electronic invoicing and tax reporting run beside the ledger, so a rejected invoice is found after the period closes.
Decision owners
- Chief financial officer
- The planning model, close calendar and reporting policies.
- Group controller
- When a period is soft- or hard-closed, and how eliminations are treated.
- Head of IT finance
- The allocation model that turns technology cost into business-unit charges.
- Tax lead
- How tax and e-invoicing rules are configured for each jurisdiction.
Who leads, who contributes, and where each stops
This is a cross-product solution. Each platform keeps its own responsibility and boundary; none is presented as a module of another.

Why this composition
Finance is plan → close → consolidate → report → comply. Splitting FP&A from RtR from consolidations from tax is the reason most groups close in weeks not days. One bundle, one chart of accounts, one set of allocations — Link adds anomaly intelligence that's auditable.
Cross-platform journey
One period, from plan to filed return
Follow one accounting period through its phases. Each column is a phase of the cycle; technology cost enters from IT Financial Management with its lineage, and anomaly review runs alongside.

Decisions, exceptions and who owns them
Cost lineage and approvals support close.
| Decision | Accountable owner | Evidence recorded | Exception path |
|---|---|---|---|
| Approve the technology allocation model | Head of IT finance with the group controller | Allocation model and lineage | Disputed charges are traced before adjustment. |
| Close the period | Group controller | Reconciliation status per entity | Entities with open reconciliations stay soft-closed. |
| Act on an anomaly | Controller | Flag with reason and decision | Dismissed flags keep their reason. |
| File a return | Tax lead | Return and supporting invoices | Rejected invoices are corrected and resubmitted. |
How financial controls are governed
Financial reporting controls are defined and tested by the organization's control owners, with IT general controls assured in iShieldGRC. iShield One records the transactions and approvals those controls rely on; no control set is pre-mapped.
- Approval limits and posting rules are configured by finance owners and versioned.
- Technology allocations carry their lineage so controllers can evidence the basis of each charge.
- Which controls are in scope for financial reporting is decided by the control owner in iShieldGRC.
Regulatory context
Regulations and frameworks organizations in this domain commonly work with. Listed as context for planning, not as a certification, attestation or pre-built mapping.
Intelligence in explicit modes, by platform
Nexus AI capabilities assist the people involved; decisions remain with accountable owners.
- Assistance drafts, answers or summarizes
- Recommendation proposes for a person to accept
- Predictive anticipates or flags
- Workflow-triggered runs only as configured and approved

What changes for the organization
Outcomes are described qualitatively. Figures are published only once evidenced.

Planning, recording, close and consolidation share one ledger and chart of accounts.
Technology cost that holds up
Business units see how each charge was derived, so disputes are resolved from the record.
Reconciliation as you go
Exceptions surface while the period is open, not in the last days.
Tax inside the period
Rejected electronic invoices are corrected before close.
What sets this solution apart
Explained technology cost
Technology charges arrive with lineage from IT Financial Management.
Nexus stays a contributor
Nexus supplies one input to the close and never presents itself as the finance platform.
